About Alfa Romeo 156

The Alfa Romeo 156 is a compact executive car that was produced by the Italian manufacturer from 1997 to 2007. It was introduced at the 1997 Frankfurt Motor Show as a replacement for the Alfa Romeo 155, and it was facelifted in late 2002 before being discontinued in early 2007.

The 156 was available with a wide range of engines, including 1.6-liter petrol, 2.0-liter petrol, 2.5-liter petrol, and 3.2-liter petrol. Diesel engine options included a 1.9-liter and a 2.4-liter. Transmission choices were either a five-speed manual or a six-speed Selespeed automated manual.

The 156 was praised for its distinctive design, build quality, and handling, but it was criticized for its high running costs and lack of availability of diesel engines in some markets.

Despite this, the 156 was one of Alfa Romeo's best-selling models, with around 1 million units sold worldwide before it was replaced by the 159 in early 2007.
