The Acura CL is a 2-door coupé that was produced by the Japanese automaker Honda from 1997 to 2003. The decision to build the car in America was risky, but it paid off.
The CL was Acura's best-selling model for years and helped solidify the brand's reputation as a builder of quality cars. Acura stopped producing the Legend Coupe in 1995 and introduced the CL lineup on Honda's assembly lines from East Liberty, Ohio.
The CL was available in two trim levels: the base model and the Type-S. The Type-S featured a more powerful engine and sportier suspension, quickly becoming the car's most popular version.
In 2001, Acura made minor changes to the CL, including a new grille and revised headlights. The following year, the company introduced an all-new CL, which featured an updated exterior design and an improved interior.
The third-generation CL was produced until 2003 when it was discontinued. Although short-lived, the CL remains one of Acura's most iconic models.
